Huyen Khong Pagoda

Where is Huyen Pagoda located?

Located more than 10km west of Hue city, Huyen Khong Pagoda is located in Dong Cham village, Huong Ho commune, Huong Tra district, which is one of the famous temples of the Nam Tong sect. In 1988, the pagoda applied for 50ha to plant a forest and in 1989, the pagoda was built by Venerable Gioi Duc.

Huyen Khong Pagoda is hidden in a valley, surrounded by high mountains, hills and a vast pine forest called Van Tung Son. The pagoda covers an area of about 10,000m2, divided into two main spaces, the Outside temple and Inside temple with majestic natural scenery, fresh air, attracting many tourists on Vietnam small group tour to visit and relax.

How to reach Huyen Khong Pagoda

To reach Huyen Khong Pagoda in Hue, tourists go from Truong Tien Bridge to Thien Mu Pagoda, follow the road along Huong River, Van Thanh and Vo Thanh and cross Xuoc Bridge, go about 1km more, you will come to Dong Cham village.

Through the village gate of about 200m, the right side, there are small stone markers along the road, although it is rough stone, the pagoda title is written in an extremely flexible way. According to the route of about 3km, you can go to Huyen Khong Pagoda.

Because of the geographical location, the road to the pagoda is quite winding. However, at present, people have renovated the road so it is more convenient for visitors to visit the temple.

The pure and fanciful beauty of Huyen Khong Pagoda

From the entrance of the temple, visitors will see the difference of Huyen Khong Pagoda compared to other temples. There is no big gate of Tam Quan but only the normal gate of the house according to Hue garden architecture. Entering inside is a lush garden with charming natural scenery, you will go through a wooden bridge spanning a small stream full of water lilies to Thanh Tam Vien.

With an open space of 10,000m2, Huyen Khong Pagoda is divided into many large areas. In which, the pagoda’s space includes Chanh Dien (Main temple), Nghinh luong dinh (Waterhouse), May Tia temple, Chung Hoa Duong, Tang Xa (Guest house), Tinh Trai duong, Duong son’s street, Coc lieu Chu Ni, Coc lieu Chu Tang and many other auxiliary works.

Huyen Khong Pagoda is built with reinforced concrete but still has an ancient architectural style and is in harmony with the general line of Hue. Especially, outside the pagoda, there is an artificial landscape called Thanh Tâm, giving visitors a feeling of peace and comfort.

Unlike the main hall of the Thien Lam Pagoda or other temples, Huyen Khong Temple’s main hall is a small house made of wood, not painted with colourful spreads with fish scale tile, low roof but extremely clean and airy space. In the middle of the main hall, there is an altar worshipping Sakyamuni Buddha statue, Buddha’s relics and relics of the Sangha. The right is Phong Truc Am used as a place to welcome the guests on Hue City Tour.

Around Phong Truc Am there is a clear lake with species of carpentry, herbs, orchids, ornamental plants alternately displayed in four seasons along with Calligraphy and poems hung year-round.
