HaLong Bay is a World Heritage Site by recognized by UNESCO, the first time on 17/12/1994 and the second time on 2000. Ha Long Bay is a popular travel destination in Quảng Ninh Province, the northeastern Vietnam, from E106°56′ to E107°37′ and from N20°43′ to N21°09′, belongs to Ha Long City, Cam Pha town, and is a part of Van Don District, away Hanoi Old Quarter about 165km with area about 1553 km², including 1,960–2,000 islands, most of which are limestone. The area designated by UNESCO incorporates 434 km² with 775 islands
Ha Long Bay is a center of a larger zone which includes Bai Tu Long Bay to the northeast, and Cat Ba Island to the southwest.
The Name Halong mean Dragon down. Before 19 century, this name hasn’t been recorded on pristine bibliographies of Vietnam. Until now, books recorded Ha Long Bay with names as Gia Châu beach, Luc Chau, Luc Thuy, Van Don, Hai Dong, An Bang …and till the end of 19 century, the name Ha Long bay appear on Maritime map of French.

The climate of the bay is tropical, sea islands, with two seasons: hot and moist summer, and dry and cold winter. The Winter from November to March of next year, the average temperature is 15°C- 20 °C . The Summer from May to September, the average temperature is 26°C- 27 °C, the Spring from April and the Autumn from October with fresh and cool. The average temperature of the year is from 18 °C- 25 °C and annual rainfall are between 2 meters and 2.2 meters. The salinity is from 31 to 34.5MT in the dry season and lowers in the rainy season
