Occupied by both the French and the Americans during 19th and 20th century, Da Nang is located at the halfway point between Hanoi, the capital in the north and Ho Chi Minh city in the south. This is the 4th largest city in Vietnam. Beside to some shopping highlights and historical sites, tourists come to this city thanks to the famous My Khe  and Lang Co Beach, Hoi An and My Son.

Lined with palm trees, Lang Co Beach has the very tranquil and blue water with long white sandy beaches. This area is fairly under-developed even though in recent years there have been many hotels and resorts opening.

On the other hand, My Khe Beach is more developed. With more than 30 kilometers coastline, water sports activities hare are very various in Da Nang. In the weekends and holiday, it can get crowded with fishing, water-skiing, diving, and yachting.

The most important thing to know about Da Nang when visiting this city is its weather. Like some other city in the central of Vietnam, Da Nang has a typical monsoon tropical climate and enjoys mild temperatures throughout the year. From December to February, it is cool and windy and you will need to wear more than one layer of clothing that ever need in other time.

The best time to visit Da Nang is from February to August because during this time, the skies are sunnier and humidity levels lower. The summer months of June to August can get a bit hot and sticky. The temperature is around from 33-34 °C. Therefore, it can get crowded in this period of time and also because it is the high season of domestic traveler. On the contrast to that season, from September to December, if you visit Da Nang, you should expect to see a lot of rain (approximately from 500 to 1000 mm per month) and please don’t forget to pack an umbrella.

The wet season, from May to January and dry season, from February to April are the main seasons of climate in Da Nang.

Da Nang has a long wet season from May to January and a dry season from February to April. With annual rainfall levels of 2,500 millimeters, there is likely to be some rain during your visit but for most of the year, the rain comes in short bursts so it is not likely to affect your travels.

Da Nang, just north of the equator on Vietnam’s south central coast, has temperatures averaging 26°C year round, with its hottest months in June to August. December to February is the coolest period, with average temperatures of 18-23°C.
