Vietnam Travel Guide
Besides the beautiful beaches and unique religious architectures, Vung Tau city also attracts tourists on Tour in Vietnam by the largest ancient weapons museum in Vietnam. Born and operated only a few years but this ancient weapons museum is a must-see destination of many tourists on Tours in Vietnam – Museum of Ancient Weapons, especially those who are passionate about history.
The “Father” of the Ancient Arms Museum or Worldwide Arms Museum is a British national man named Robert Taylor. Mr. Robert is a mechanical engineer since he has a passion for collecting weapons and army costumes of countries around the world.
In 1989, when he came to Vietnam to work, he decided to stick with the beautiful Vung Tau sea. In 1998, he married a Vietnamese woman named Nguyen Thi Bong and in 2012, they founded the Ancient Arms Museum.
Initially, the museum is located at 14 Hai Dang Street, Ward 2. But operating less than a year, Mr Robert and his wife encountered conflicts leading to divorce. While the court is handling the case, his wife sold all of her common property, including the museum.
Without giving up his dream, Mr. Taylor proceeded to ask the provincial government to lend a French architectural house – a famous Vung Tau tourist destination located at 98 Tran Hung Dao to open the museum. During this time, this man of nearly 70 years old also came to Thailand to work for an oil company to earn more income to build a new museum.
In 2015, he remarried to another Vietnamese woman. With the support of his wife’s spirit and financial support, Mr. Robert opened the museum again in April 2016 at 98 Tran Hung Dao Street, Ward 1.
